The BareBooks bear logo was derived from a tattoo I have of the silhouette of a teddy bear my father gave me when I was only seven. I kept him for thirty years until I became ill again and in a manic fit tossed him down the garbage shoot. I have worked in fashion for over twenty years and the "bare" signifies a departure from the garment industry, sort of naked. Baring it all, through literature, not literally. Teddy bears symbolize many things: childhood, boyishness, comfort even love.
